Fluoroscopy is a procedure that uses x-ray to produce real-time video images. An upper GI study (UGI), small bowel follow through (SBFT) and barium enema (BE) are common examples of this procedure.
With an UGI, the physician will be able to evaluate the esophagus, stomach, and the duodenum.
A SBFT evaluates the transit time and appearance of the small bowel.
A BE, also known as a lower GI, will allow us to visualize the large intestine.
